Tuition and Policies

Payment Terms
The tuition and food and lodging fee are indicated next to the course description.  A deposit of $500 is due with your registration form.

The balance is due 45 days before the start of your course.  If you enroll within 45 days of the commencement of the course, full payment is due upon registration. No allowance or reduction will be made for late arrival or early departure without the director’s prior consent.

If you have to cancel your registration more than 45 days before the start of the course, the balance of any amount already paid will be refunded to you minus a $150 processing fee.  If you cancel less than 45 days before the start of the course, payment (minus a $150 processing fee) will be refunded only if we are able to fill your slot in the course.

Medical Care
At least one Whitehead Light Station staff member will have Wilderness First Responder or EMT certification.  Routine first aid provided by this staff member is included in the tuition.  In the event of more serious injury, Whitehead Light Station staff will provide transportation to the mainland and from there to Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockland, or will engage ambulance care on the mainland or emergency evacuation services if the situation warrants it.  All expenses for outside medical care are the responsibility of the program participant.

Acknowledgement of Risk
Participants acknowledge that the Whitehead Light Station program takes place in a remote setting and that there is a risk of serious physical injury in such settings.

Images
Participants give Whitehead Light Station and Pine Island Camp permission to copyright or publish photographs, movies, videos, letters or tape recordings of program participants and to use those images in program publications, promotional materials, and website.  Participants will not be identified by name on the website.

Belongings
Whitehead Light Station is not responsible for participants’ belongings or equipment while in transit or at WLS facilities. Bedroom doors in the Keeper’s House do not lock from the outside.

The Whitehead Light Station is a program of Pine Island, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation. It is our policy to admit program participants without regard to race, religion, national origin, or ethnic origin.
